New Bombay Ayyappa Mission (Regd) is an organisation registered under the SOCIETIES ACT NO. MAH/966/THANE and PUBLIC TRUST NO. F-884,THANE. during the year 1977, with its Registered Office at Plot No. 1, Ayyappa Temple Road, Sector-8, Vashi, Navi Mumbai -400 703 , with a Telephone No. 022 2782 20 54. Initially the intention of the Mission was to conduct Mandala Pooja Mahotsavam of Lord Ayyappa - the powerful deity of Hill Shrine of Sabarimala In Kerala - every year during the months of November - January. For a period of long 18 years such Mandala Poojas were conducted for 3 days during the month of December every year, concluding on the 1st Saturday of December. In between the above the number of devotees in the tiny Town ship started increasing day by day and When the enthusiasm of these Ayyappa Devotees increased, a wish to have temple for Lord Ayyappa blossomed in the minds of all and began to put their efforts towards this end. With very great efforts, a piece of land ad-measuring about 470 sq.mts could be purchased from the Govt. agency viz. CIDCO - CITY AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF MAHARASHTRA LTD. in Sector-8 of Vashi, Navi Mumbai. On this mighty land , during the year 1997, a beautiful temple was constructed for Lord Ayyappa - Sree Dharmasastha - with Sree Ganapathy, Sree Durga Devi, and Lord Siva. During the year a separate temple for Lord Muruka was constructed together with Navagrahalaya and Sarpagraha within the Sree Ayyappa Temple Complex itself, making it a Siva Kudumbam. As per the best wishes of the First Kshetram Thantri Shri Kozhikottiri Parameshwaran Nampoothiripaad and as per the advise of Jyothishi Shulapaani Variar, with a view to make the temple a MAHA KSHETRAM , during the year 2004 A Golden Flag-staff was constructed and erected in front of the temple with the other necessary paraphernalia. Now the Trustees of the Mission are on the Herculean task of construction of a Shrine for Lord Sreekrishna , construction of Mukhamandapam to the existing Temple and also to extend the Prayer Hall for the better convenience of the devotees,which are expected to be completed by mid-April 2011, when the consecration of the same will be done during the 7th Prathishtadina Mahotsavam. The administration of this temple is presently carried out by a Committee (Trustee) consisting of. Shri K. N. S.Pillai (President), Shri V. C. Chandran Pillai (Vice. President), Shri K. Muralidharan (General Secretary), Shri N.K. Gangadharan (Jt. Secretary), Shri K. Sivaraman (Treasurer), Shri V. Jayachandran (Jt.Treasurer),Shri K. P.C.Kutty, Shri R. Chandran Pillai,Shri V.D.Omanakuttan, Shri P. Sudheesh, Shri P. Ramachanndrtan, Shri P.G.Gangadharan, Shir K.S. Unnithan, Shri Vijayan & Shri K. Vasu as Members. Shri U. B. S.
